Opened on the 3rd October, 1975. The building was quite big and spacious, but a bit sloppy constructed, so it had to be rebuilt. Keila's 1st Secondary School was one the first schools in Estonia that got the internet connection for the computers. Keila's 1st Secondary School has very good relationships with Leerdam's Cals College, located in Netherlands.

The educational activity in Keila started at the end of 17th century. But the first stationary schools in the neighbourhood of Keila were founded in 1867.
Keila Gymnasium was opened in 1954. Keila Gymnasium is the member of The B.G.Forselius Society. About 3000 students have graduated from the school during this time. The age of students studying in Keila Gymnasium is from 7 to 19.
The classes in the gymnasium part have been divided into the Arts, Science and Economic classes:
- The Arts classes- students study more profoundly literature and different foreign languages. The students of the Arts classes go to the theatre, visit museums and exhibitions and take part in excursions to places connected with our cultural history.
- The Science classes- students study more profoundly mathematics and physics.
- The Economic classes- students study the basis of economic theories and information technology.
A student can make up his/her own study programme from different subjects.
Keila Gymnasium has also got the department for adults.
