Before Estonia joined European Union he paid the main attention to the institutions of European Union and international organisations. From February 6-23 the honorary citizen of Keila and a long-time friend Harry Raemaekers is talking about ethics, human rights and the opposition between the Islam religion and modern life-style.
After passing the course our students will be given certificates what they can successfully use in their further studies or occupations.

Ambassador invited to study in United States
06.11.2006
By the words of the ambassador of the United States of America Aldona Zofia Wos, must boldly use the opportunities to study abroad. The United States of America are waiting docile young people of Estonia.
The gymnasium pupils can apply for exchange student and thousands of colleges of U.S. are waiting for students, said Wos by meeting with the school leavers of Keila gymnasiums on the 28th of September. It is important to know, where to get the information about possibilities. Mrs. ambassador suggested the home page of the Embassy of the United States as the best possibility.
On the 28th of September visited the ambassador of the United States of America Aldona Zofia Wos Keila Gymnasium and Keila United Gymnasium. After brief conversation with the leaders of school and town, delivered Wos a lecture to school leavers. The main message of the lecture was, that to start studying in the United States of America, is easier than it`s thought. The difficulties with the visa and bankrolling are to solve. The polish origin ambassador affirmed, that all who don`t have bad intentions, are waited to United States. A lot of information about studying opportunities can be finded on home page of the embassy of the United States of America on address http://estonia.usembassy.gov .
Visitig the schools has formed as a tradition to the Embassy of United States in Estonia, which has been continued also by Aldona Zofia Wos, who was sworn in the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the United States of America in Estonia in August 2004. Keila United Gymnasium was her 75th school, which she visited in Estonia. In case of that, gave she to school people the book-shaped cake as a gift.
From the side of Keila greeted mrs. ambassador deputy mayor Roland Tõnisson and education advisor Jüri Järvik. The Keila visit finished in Mihkli Church, where Mrs. ambassador put the candle and flowers to altar dedicated to Estonian woman.

SchoolExchange helps to practise the English language
15.02.2007
Who could believe in 1989 that short sentence dropped by mister Harry Raemaekers “let’s make friends” to a teacher of Keila Keskkool Mrs Reet Merilain, would have a long future?!
During these 18 years some ~400 families in Keila and Nieuwegein,Holland, have been hosts for children from other country. It has become absolutely normal to start a schoolyear with a question, “Are you in a Dutch group this year?”
The main aim of the SchoolExchange is to practise the English language in communication, but it isn’t an end in itself. Our world view gets wider. We visit not only cultural places, entertainments and schools, we go to Parlament in Den Haag and Riigikogu in Tallinn. We talk a lot about history and politics. We can be proud to surprise Dutch students with our schoolmuseum.
We live in families, so we can ask and we are asked about everything. We don’t watch only. We compare and make conclusions. We can see different appearance and different attitude. We start learning how to manage in the world. We have to be prepared to welcome guests not only like a host, but ready to answer several questions from different areas.
Dutch group arrrived 31 January 2007. Altogether we drove to Kuutsemäe to enjoy wintersports. Short walk in snowy Tartu gave joy to everyone. Friday was a day in Tallinn. Weekend was for families. Monday was full of Russian culture as it was spent in Keila Ühisgümnaasium. After Russian day we had a nice trip to Estonian Open Air Museum. Tuesday was a surprising day with ordinary lessons: geography, Estonian language, museum, art and music. At night – the last disco. Wednesday – day to say NÄGEMISENI(=see you then). We were asked an audience with our Mayor. A lot of nice words were said. The main thing was – we are eager to continue.
Our group leaves for Holland on 28 March 2007.
Urve Paltser, teacher of English language
